Magiclift describes the magic of invisible rising air. Among pilots, Magiclift is a synonym for restitution (or evening soaring).

This term refers to the lifting of air masses without direct solar radiation. Restitution occurs when the air near the ground on mountain slopes cools down. As it cools, its density increases compared to the surrounding air, which cools more slowly. This colder, denser air flows down into the valley, displacing the air mass already there. In enclosed valley basins, the displaced air has no choice but to rise upwards. Voilà – restitution!

In a Magiclift, the displaced air mass rises over a large area, evenly, and very rarely with climb rates exceeding 2 m/s. This allows paraglider pilots to stay in the air for a long time in the evening – even when thermal updrafts on the slopes are no longer usable.

We chose this name for our paragliding school because flying a paraglider is a truly magical experience – there is simply no easier way to take off. When you rise in a Magiclift and the view improves with every meter gained, you are sitting in the best elevator in existence.

A Magiclift makes you happy!
